China Telecom's TeleAgent Hits 1.5M Users: AI Agents Go Mainstream at Enterprise Scale

China Telecom's TeleAgent office AI passed 1.5M registered users and 200,000 daily active users — a sign agents are moving from demos to enterprise scale.

The milestone

China Telecom's office AI agent, TeleAgent, has passed 1.5 million registered users with over 200,000 daily active users — a steep climb from just 27,000 registered users in mid-June. Liu Guiqing, the company's president and COO, announced the milestone at PT Expo China 2026.

"TeleAgent marks the shift of AI from understanding what is said to getting things done," Liu said, framing the milestone as proof that autonomous agents capable of end-to-end task execution are moving from demos into large-scale enterprise adoption.

The product strategy

TeleAgent comes in three flavors: an individual workplace agent, an enterprise SaaS edition with multi-device collaboration and scenario customization, and a private-deployment edition (released mid-August) that keeps models and data entirely inside the customer's own environment — a direct answer to sovereignty and data-control concerns.

Most striking is the skill marketplace: over 50,000 skills, 99% built by end users solving their own productivity problems. That user-generated ecosystem is the real engine — the platform supplies the agent runtime, and customers build the workflows themselves.

Why this matters beyond China

Scale this fast, in this short a time, signals that the agent market's center of gravity is shifting. Western coverage still frames agents as experimental; 200,000 daily active enterprise users says otherwise. It also previews the playbook: private deployment options, drag-and-drop task execution, and user-built skill marketplaces are likely to define the next wave everywhere.

What this means for your business

- Private deployment is becoming table stakes. If a major carrier's agent product offers on-premises editions, your employees and clients will start expecting the same data-sovereignty option from every vendor you evaluate. - Let users build the workflows. TeleAgent's skill marketplace is 99% user-generated. Give your teams agent tools they can extend themselves — the best automations come from the people doing the work, not the IT roadmap. - Watch Chinese agent platforms. The pace of adoption there is outrunning Western enterprise rollouts. What works at TeleAgent's scale will shape global product expectations within a year.
